The Doors Won’t Close Properly

When a shipping container is full, you may find the doors harder to close, even if you had no problems previously. One of the most common reasons for this is the surface on which it is sitting not being perfectly level. This means that the opening of the doors twists slightly, causing the problems with closing the doors.

To solve this problem, you will need to figure out which door is sitting lower – this is the side that will need to be raised. You will need to elevate the corner of the lower sitting door and wedge something like a block of timber underneath to raise it. This can be a process of trial and error as you try to get the necessary height on the corner.

My Shipping Container Suffers From Condensation

Condensation can be a common issue with shipping containers and can cause to more serious issues further down the line. It’s important to nip this in the bud before it’s too late, and, thankfully, there are some simple fixes.

You could invest in fitting vents or bring in dehumidifiers which will remove excess moisture from the air. You can also look into solutions such as insulation and graphotherm which can make a huge difference to the state of your shipping container. I’m Having to Deal With Corrosion

When shipping containers are subjected to the elements for extended periods of time, corrosion can become a common issue. There are a number of preventative measures you can take in order to extend the life of your container and stave off corrosion. You can read more about this in one of our previous blogs about how to deal with corrosion on shipping containers.

Using methods such as keeping the area dry, applying drying agents and using moisture barriers can be particularly helpful when trying to keep corrosion at bay. However, for patches of corrosion, you should thoroughly clean the container, sand down the area and re-paint in order to get a ‘good as new’ feeling.
